Poetry lifts the veil from the hidden beauty of the world, and makes familiar objects be as if they were not familiar.

The world is full of poetry. The air is living with its spirit; and the waves dance to the music of its melodies, and sparkle in its brightness. We cannot imagine our life without poetry. The words used by poets make our world colourful, meaningful, help us to see the beauty hidden from our eyes, allow to hear the language of stones, flowers, reveal the thoughts of the clouds, waves, people. Poetry is emotion, passion, love, grief—everything that is human.
Today pupils of the 9th form got acquainted with Shakespeare’s sonnets, romantic poems of Keats and Shelley, read the poems of the national poet of Scotland – Robert Burns.
It is common knowledge that a great poet is a possessor of unusual sensitivity and insight. He is able to express things in a beautiful and romantic way. He is an imaginative, a creative and artistic person. Pupils were impressed by the way renowned poets portrayed nature, feelings, emotions. Moreover, they recited translations of these famous works performed by Samuil Marshak and Boris Pasternak in order to understand them more profoundly. The background music plunged us into the world full of wonder and romance.
We can say that our literary event convinced us that we strongly need poetry in our life. It helps us to be more emotional, improves our speech and helps to see beauty in our daily life.
